PentaHelix Consortium Meets in Riga

In December 2019 PentaHelix partners met in Riga, Latvia in the project meeting – to share the experiences in the work on the main task of the project – elaboration of SECAPs (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans) using the PentaHelix methodology, as well as to discuss the progress throughout the project implementation.
One of the main principles of the PentaHelix methodology is involvement of 5 main pillars of stakeholders at the early stages of elaboration the energy plans and throughout the whole process, to make it a living document:
• Public authorities (local, regional, national and international)
• Industry (and businesses such as SMEs, farmers, trade etc)
• Academia (research and educational institutes)
• NGOs (associations, interest organisations, etc)
• Citizens (house owners, car owners, commuters etc)
Project partners have shown a great enthusiasm which resulted with the great interest of the municipalities and the total number of 26 municipalities planning 21 SECAPs instead of the initially planned 8.
The work on SECAPs is going on well – the Norwegian partners – Ostfold County Council can boast of having 3 SECAPs ready, Croatia partners – University of Zagreb have completed the SECAP for Zagreb, West Flanders Intermunicipal Association also having one SECAP ready, Regional Energy Agency of Castilla and Leon, Spain, working of 6 SECAPs soon to be completed. Other partners’ SECAPs also underway. Great to have this shoulder’s feeling!
