Every city/municipality has to consider how to make its public transport greener and more environmentally friendly to comply with the EU directives and provide its contribution in the achievement of climate neutrality in 2050.
Jelgava Bus Park, Ltd (SIA “Jelgavas autobusu parks”) of Jelgava city, Latvia, elaborated the project “Development of environmentally friendly transport infrastructure in Jelgava city” and is implementing the project within which 4 new electric busses and 2 charging stations have been purchased and delivered in July – September 2021. The total investment from Cohesion fund, Latvia state and Jelgava city municipality has been 2 335 905 EUR. It is planned that the four electric busses running, instead of the conventional ones, will save about 182 t/CO2 per year.
Thus one of the activities of the newly elaborated Jelgava SECAP is being implemented.
Parallelly to purchase of electric busses “Jelgava bus park” continues to follow closely on how the hydrogen technologies are developing, so that in future the most effective busses could be chosen from the green energy busses.
